Commodores Performing Arts is a leading organisation in the United Kingdom that has won numerous awards. Our members produce award-winning routines by combining dance, performance, and the development of unique equipment skills.
We are now recruiting in each of our groups (all age ranges are provided for), where you may hone your dance and gymnastics skills while also joining a vibrant, supportive community that celebrates the love of performance and dancing in a unique and fulfilling way.
Our students come for a variety of reasons, including wanting to benefit from our outstanding performing arts education, to enhance their self-esteem, increase their confidence, or find their place in this particular field of performing arts. All of this leads to forming lifelong friendships and being a part of a caring, supportive community.
If you have experience with these disciplines or have the desire to perform and learn, we would love to hear from you.
Developing You and Your Skills
During the off-season and summer months, we focus on refining and developing your skills to ensure you are in the best possible position for when we start production rehearsals. During this time, you will be taught by leading educators in the fields of dance, performance, and equipment skills. We don’t have long or frequent rehearsals during this period, but you will also have the opportunity to attend events where you can learn alongside fellow performers from other organisations. It’s a more relaxed and fun time.
Learning Your Part in the Production
Our rehearsals, where we learn the choreography, performance techniques, and equipment handling, typically start around mid-September. You will be instructed by some of the leading designers in the UK and will work closely with your fellow Commodores to “Be the Best You Can Be,” preparing for the start of the competitive season. During this time, rehearsals become more frequent and longer, while still being fun and rewarding
Performance Season – Competitive
Our competitive season begins each January and concludes with the British Championships in early April. Throughout this period, we will have several performances and competitions across the UK where you will compete against the UK’s leading organisations, we may even travel further afield to Ireland or the Netherlands.
It is during this time that we put in the hard work to refine our skills and continuously improve the production with each performance.

Additional costs to consider
Travel to performances. Whilst we will endeavour to help you organise car sharing to performances, this is not guaranteed.
Your biggest additional cost will be the WGUK Championships, as you will be required to stay in a hotel with the other members and supporters. You will also need to budget for food and drink for the weekend of the championships. These take place in early April each year and are currently held in Worcester.
We aim to keep ALL costs to a minimum, and our subscription fees have not increased since 2018.
“Commodores isn’t just a performing arts group. We are a family, we care for each other, we look out for each other, and we share the tough times as well as the best. We never feel alone being a member of Commodores colour guard and have wonderful life long friends.”

“I’m not sure words can truly express the difference Commodores has made in my daughter’s life. A shy, anxious 9-year-old, Emily, now 20, is spending her 2nd summer travelling and performing in America for 3 months, something which she would never have achieved without the support, patience and genuine passion from her instructors.
Over the last 10 years, Commodores has given her skills in a unique performing arts discipline, different from anything she had tried before, showcasing beautiful movement and coordination that focuses on artistic expression and precise execution of the equipment they use.
Not only has Emily had the opportunity to learn something a little different from her school friends, but she has learnt life skills making her more confident, resilient, and self-motivated, taught her how to persevere and work as part of a team and given her the chance to perform and compete all over the UK and Ireland.
Thank you, Commodores, for everything you have helped Emily to achieve.”

“Over the previous decade, the Commodores community has had a huge impact on my childrens’ lives. All have been members, learning how to dance and manage equipment while also forming lifelong friendships and gaining incredible experiences. As a foreign family, we discovered a beautiful community of children, parents, and volunteers, rather than just a dancing club. I can’t thank them enough for being so kind and welcoming.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of watching my daughter grow and thrive as a member of the Commodores for the past six years. During her time in the group, she has faced numerous challenges, particularly during her teenage years. However, Commodores has been a constant source of stability, serving as her anchor during difficult times.
The group has provided my daughter with an environment where she’s formed lasting friendships and developed new skills. She’s demonstrated remarkable commitment and consistency, even on long training days. One of the most rewarding aspects has been the opportunity for her to perform on stage, a dream that might not have been possible without the support and encouragement from the group.
If you want your child to make happy, lifelong memories, gain a supportive group of friends and be part of an organisation that stands out from the crowd, then I highly recommend Commodores.”
